Possible PCOS: Internal Ultrasound After IUD

General/Advice

Feeling a bit lost right now, so really just looking for a place to put all my thoughts (F,25)

I recently was told by my midwife over a phone appointment that it’s a possibility that I have polycystic ovary syndrome after a recent internal ultrasound. I had an IUD placed in March and after about 7 weeks I had the scan, so they wanted to check the placement.

The midwife just called me today and said I had over 20 small cysts on each ovary. I wasn’t really given much info, it was a quick call, so i’m following up with my family doctor for more information. The appointment isn’t for another week and I’m really just feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing. It was always an underlying suspicion that I had PCOS because I had irregular periods and went on the pill to help it at 16. Maybe a blessing in disguise that I had this appointment? Still not confirmed but that is what they are speculating.

I’m drowning in the negatives and just need somewhere to turn to. I keep seeing “INFERTILITY” slapped across every website I visit to get more info which is just scaring me more, but the midwife reassured me that this is super common, and many women still have very healthy pregnancies. My dream is to be a mother one day, I can feel it in me that I am meant to have babies with every fibre of my being and i’ve known this for most of my life.

Any input is greatly appreciated, I think i’m just needing comfort as I feel alone and scared right now.
