First time and need some suggestions please

I’m no stranger to bikes but have never owned one. I’m very road aware and always wanted a bike. Have owned plenty of sports cars and drove manuals my whole life Could just never fully trust owning a bike and that just wasn’t in the cards over the years but I’m older now and things have changed and I kind of have this itch to finally get one. If I’m seriously considering it just looking for some suggestions. I’m not a big guy so I want something I don’t feel is too large for me especially being a beginner but I also know I’ll catch on quick so I don’t want to undersize myself and get bored in the matter of the first season either. I don’t want to spend a ton but I can easily finance $10k and I’m not looking to buy a used piece of junk. Just wondering what bikes may be the best option to look at in my position. I’m 38 and I’m pretty smart and responsible and regardless I’d take a motorcycle class just for the sake of learning from professionals.
