Returning player questioning "unhook mechanic" .

Discussion

I'm a returning killer player, back when I used to play the only difference between "stage two" and "stage one" hook progression was that the survivor could NO LONGER unhook THEMSELVES.

Well, I had a match as Plague and the entire lobby was infected/broken and I noticed that the last survivor I unhooked was like twenty seconds away from dying. So, I hovered nearby and spotted two survivors on opposite sides of the hook (not close to it at all). I realized the guy on the hook was going to perish because neither of nearby survivors were going for a cleanse so I just walked up to the hook in the last few seconds to make sure they wouldn't be saved.

BACK WHEN I USED TO PLAY - this was known as the survivors MESSING UP. No one was healthy and they didn't have enough time to cleanse themselves and save, because they hadn't used the PRIOR FIFTY-FIVE ENTIRE SECONDS PREVIOUSLY to do so. Oh, but nope!~ Apparently *I* messed up, *ME* - because I hadn't read the patch notes that sitting within very close proximity made the survivors "unhook meter" progress at FOUR times the speed. First of all, whyyyyyy is there even an unhook meter on their SECOND hook stage? Second of all, WHY does it go FOUR times faster when I'm "too close"?? The killer shouldn't be punished for spending TEN SECONDS securing the kill because the other three idiots couldn't rub their braincells together and formulate a plan LOL. Next time I'm in that situation I know now not to stand right in front of the hook, but why does the unhook mechanic even exist in such a situation? A killer isn't allowed to proxy camp for 10 seconds and then face-camp for another 10 seconds when it's obvious the survivors made a mistake? Twenty seconds is too much time spent near the hook? In stage two? With all survivors broken? Really now
