Feline facial lacerations; a medical exploratory review

I'm not a doctor, but a physical scientist (physicist). I revere you folks in medicine and thank you for your tremendous work and admire you for you incredible knowledge. I subscribe to this (and other medical sub-reddits) because I find your work fascinating and in some small way regret not going to medical school. Today I am depressed because funds are being cut from my area of research (aeronomy, probably because it relates to climate) and I am saddened watching science being attacked in this country (US).

So I thought I would lift my spirits in a morbid way by asking you all for medical anecdotes of leopards eating faces. Personal stories where you witnessed patients rejecting science and medical advice only to come back to you experiencing exactly the consequences that were laid out. I know this happened continuously throughout Covid, but I suspect it happens all the time.

Care to feed my doom scrolling self medication? If not, I can just go drink...

Oh, and since posts should link to "high-quality, original research" whenever possible, here is a link to a good paper on "America’s deadly flirtation with antiscience and the medical freedom movement" by Peter J. Hotez in 2021.
