Need some advice on calorie/day and trying to switch to wet food.
I’ve tried many times to switch her to wet food but she doesn’t really like any. We adopted her when she was about a year old and from what I’ve read they usually eat the same texture as they did when they were kittens. She was on the streets before being rescued so I’m assuming it was primarily only dry food. Right now she only eats dry but she drinks a lot of water. I also recently read that’s a bad thing, but she’s always drank a lot of water and her bloodwork came out fine when we did it last time. Either way I want to feed her wet food so when I start the dechonking process I’m incorporating 1/2 a 3(?) oz can of wet food. My mom moved back a few months ago and my cat will annoy any of us till we feed her. My mom has been over feeding her despite us telling her to feed her very very little. I’d estimate my cat’s weight to be about 11.5lb. She’s about 4 years old and spayed. Since we don’t know how many calories she’s even consuming I’m going to start off at 248 calories. I know it’s a lot, but I want her to not ‘freak out’ but most importantly I just want to build a consistent feeding schedule and consistent calorie intake. Right now I think I have it set to 9/24 servings split into 4 meals and then the 1/2 can wet food. Does this seem reasonable?
