Can someone help me understand how fights would go with this magic system

I recently started watching Black Clover and i’m a little confused about how the fights kinda work and stuff because I feel like a lot of fights would end up being a battle of attrition vs technique or something similar. I think this because right now at least the knights will cut something down (like an elemental creation spell) and it keeps regenerating. So wouldn’t the battle really just continue until one of them runs out of mana. Also I feel like a lot of the powers are really unoriginal and a lot of people just have like elemental powers that they have different spells with.
