Boring jail. More boring than it should be. Feeling useless
So basically, I transferred to a med sec jail after working in a mental health max security setting where I had to run around sometimes for hours. And now NOTHING fucking happens. I'm getting antsy and feeling useless... I used to be pretty effective during incidents and emergencies, and now I just idle around... the meal line is fucking killing me, the inmates even clean after themselves???? I haven't had to yell in ONE MONTH. I can only transfer back after 3 years... how do I deal with this shit? And my coworkers keep dramatizing the working conditions because, for most of them, this is all they've ever experienced. I feel like shit now. I don't feel useful at all. I'm not an adrenaline junkie, that's not it... but I felt at ease in a jail with multiple incidents per day, and now I'm in a med sec where they have 4 stabbings in 1 week and keep talking about that for the next month??? There is so much gossip going around because no one has anything to do. It is supposed to be the busiest med sec in Canada and it's a kindergarten. I haven't talked about this to any of my coworkers, but it is affecting me. I know I should be grateful to be making money for just doing counts and clearing yards... but wtf, I feel like I'm being wasted. When I asked for the transfer, I had no idea there was NOTHING TO DO. Any tips on how to survive this weird situation? I just have to bide my time for 35 months. HOW?
