I've seen a few complaints about about how lots of events don't require you to use your brain. I also wish the events had more optionnal difficulties as well. However, I understand why Hoyo hasn't done this lately. A huge portion of players do seem to hate optionnal difficulty and HSR has to cater to them it seems.

Remnants of Twilight seemed to have most attributes we could wish for in a challenge. The beginner and intermediate difficulties were clearable with only trial characters. Nightmare mode for fight 2,3 and 5 were clearable for full f2p players. Fight 2 and 3 required a bit of thinking and unusual teams. It could also be cheesed with various characters. On top of that, the nightmare mode was optionnal since the rewards are permanent for that last difficulty. Despite all of this, the fights 2 and 3 had by far the most complaints I've ever seen in an event. The complaints were mostly about the event being too hard.

After experiencing this, I'm not surprised most events are braindead even though I wish we had more events like Remnants of Twilight. I'm not saying the event was perfect but it was going in the right direction. The fact that most complaints were directed at the difficulty of fight 2 which was clearable by a full f2p team was pretty telling. The difficulty was also completely optionnal.

The reason why HSR events are brain off
