Am I over steping?

Teacher Support &/or Advice

Im a first year para in a behavioral classroom. We send out kids to inclusion to be with Gen Ed peers, and most of my students go with an adult accompanying.

I have one student that is my velcro student, hes in kindergarten. Everyday he begs me to stay with him in inclusion, however I have more serious behaviors to monitor. I only leave once I get him settled.

Today we had a assembly, so when we brought our students we brought fidget toys for them as well. My velcro kid was sitting in the very front row with his other class. When I noticed his teacher repeatedly trying to correct behavior (sitting down, sitting still, trying to get him to stop stimming, and making noise) I went over and brought him a fidget toy.

He then requested to come with me (he does not like the inclusion teacher very much. She makes him uncomfortable because she tells him to stop stimming) however if our other para went over he would have also requested to leave the group to come back with us. I told him he had just a few more minutes then he would come back.

He settled down and went to listen to the speaker.

However, the inclusion teacher pulled me over and told me that he was fine and I was a problem. (I can read this kid like the back of my hand, im with him all day. Shes with him for an hour)

I told her I was just offering a fidget and that he was fine and ready to listen again.

She told me to take him because she no longer wanted to deal with him.

He came over to the rest of our class and sat calmly and quietly with no reminders for the rest of the presentation.

(She has a bias against us because we had a para (theres 3 of us this one just went on leave for the rest of the year)

Who would spin stories about how we have no control on the kids. She would sit back as behaviors where escalating next to her and not do anything. She could watch a kid elope and wouldn't tell us or go after them.)

I just need advice. Did I mistrad the situation? Or is this a real problem?

Also for all my other young teachers/paras, how do we get people to stop treating us like we don't know what we're doing just because their older?
