Struggling with breastfeeding two days after c section

I had an emergency c section two night ago due to the cord being wrapped around my sons neck. Recovery is hell so far, though I know it’s only been two days so that is to be expected. I decided early on I wanted to only breastfeed until I returned to work and then pump then. The issue is getting comfortable with him in nursing positions while trying to keep the pain at bay. It’s hard to hold him let alone maneuver him around to feed. I’m feeling myself beginning to dread his lip smacking.
Is this common within the first week? I’m worried this feeling will only worsen.
