Uncanny Luck in real life

Funny

Sorry to ramble,

TLDR

When I play an older game for the first time and get really invested, a remaster of that game somehow gets announced/dropped a few days later, after I'm already too invested in the older game to start over. Tell me what older game I should play and get invested in, and once I'm well into the Sunken Cost fallacy, a remaster will get announced, but no promises

____________

I don't really know how to start this but even through burnout in games and real life, over the past few years I've tried to get back into what was once my favorite hobby and outlet. I don't know if it's my depression or adhd or any number of other things, but it's been very hard for me to get fully invested in a game. However, some time ago I tried to go back and give Oblivion another try.

I was introduced to the franchise through Skyrim so previously when I had tried to play the earlier games I found them clunky and a little hard to look at if I'm honest. But I wanted to give it another try since I had heard nothing but incredible things about it. That same week? Not even 7 days later? Bethesda shadow drops the remaster after I had already sank a couple dozen hours into the original. If I had waited just a little longer I could have experienced oblivion for the first time in these beautiful new graphics, but no. I was already way too invested in that character to start over from scratch with the prettier graphics.

And if it was just that once then that would have been fine. However!! I recently started playing Gothic 1 for the very first time. It's a harsh but fair game and I'm loving every step of it. Even if some of those steps caused me to accidentally fall 5 feet down instead of 3 feet down and now I die instantly instead of brushing it off casually. And again, not even a month after I start do I discover that they're remaking the game with gorgeous modern graphics!

So my question to everyone here is, what older game do you recommend for me to get deeply invested in? I'm not promising that it will get miraculously announced to get a remaster, but I'm just saying the odds are pretty good apparently. I'm big into RPGs, rogue-likes, resource management, unapologetically unique lore, and monster/creature makers/tamers. Also I guess I'm making this post while waiting for Need for Speed: Most Wanted to finish downloading. So while I'm not normally one for racing games, this one started beef with me as a kid and I was never able to beat it, so here we go for round two.
