BUYING NEW BIKE AND NEED ADVICE
I found a 2019 Yamaha R3 for $2,500 CAD with about 20,000 km. The VIN comes back clean, and from what I've seen over the past couple of years browsing Facebook Marketplace, this seems significantly cheaper than most comparable R3s.
Because this would be my first bike, I'm having a hard time telling whether this is actually a great deal or if it's a "too good to be true" situation. Unfortunately, I don't really have any experienced rider friends nearby who can come inspect it with me.
For those who have owned R3s or bought used bikes before:
- Does $2,500 CAD for a 2019 R3 with 20,000 km immediately raise any red flags?
- What would be the most likely reasons a seller would price it this low?
- What specific things should I inspect in person?
- Are there common R3 issues I should look out for?
- What questions should I ask the seller before meeting?
- If I can't test ride it myself, what are some signs that the bike has been well maintained (or poorly maintained)?
- Are there any documents besides ownership/registration and VIN verification that I should ask for?
- What would make you walk away from the deal immediately?
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to avoid making an expensive mistake while also not passing up a genuinely good deal.
