How did Ammon get Bricks & Minifigs?

Ammon & his brother used to have a B&M franchise. Some other guy in Oregon started the company. All public info says they “took over” the company, but makes no mention of a purchase. I’m wondering if they found a way to steal the company using courts. Anybody got any info?
