Why do parents always ask for their children to clean their room?

Hello, I’m 15 and I’ve always asked myself this question.

A few weeks ago, my mom, dad (separated parents) and I had an argument over the cleanliness of my room, they always bring up what they do for me, and I’m really glad and grateful for all the stuff they get me or whatever, I just don’t understand why they always ask in return for me to tidy or clean my room.

I mean, I tried to get why, but I just don’t fully understand why they ask for MY room instead of doing the dishes, mopping the floors or actually help in the house.

Also, it’s obvious that I’m not an angel and I obviously argue and I do forget to clean my room when they ask me… but that’s not the case.
