Nausea after arthroscopy?
I’m 15 days past TMJ arthroscopy.
Surgeon found degenerative joint disease at Wilkes Stage IV with inflamed joint lining, a degenerated/fibrillated disc with restricted movement, roughened joint surfaces with some exposed bone
They performed a 400 mL washout, debridement of inflamed/damaged tissue and joint adhesions, then injected PRP + hyaluronic acid plus pulled the disc back into place (was permanently locked forward).
I’m still in pain, but can be controlled with paracetamol, still can only open 2cm even with physio started and daily exercises.
My biggest concern however is I still have significant nausea, to be the point I can’t function. I don’t physically vomit, but constantly feel like I need too. I haven’t been able to return to work yet, and I don’t feel particularly safe driving. It kind of comes in waves, with hot flashes and dizziness, but always have some in the background.
I’m eating enough calories (although soft foods) so that’s not the issue. I’m really starting to struggle as it’s been so long, and no improvement on the nausea front (so much so I don’t even care about the locked jaw still!!)
Has anyone else experienced this, and when did it finally ease?
