How important is the ending?

Hi everyone,
I’m working a stage adaptation of OTGW and I kinda want to cut the ending (where they’re in the hospital) because it’s annoying to do the set change. I felt like if I ended it at the “goodbye Beatrice, goodbye Wirt” lines, it would be fine.
I like how it would be a little ambiguous but it might be too grim and imply that Wirt and Greg end up dying.
I was wondering if anyone else had thoughts on this, and if the ending is super important.
