AITAH for not letting my wife get a dog?

My wife really wants a dog. We rent our home, and our lease does not allow dogs. She asked the landlord directly, and they said no.

I've told her multiple times that I'm not comfortable getting a dog because I'm worried we'll get caught and potentially be forced to move. We have two children, and I don't think it's worth risking our housing situation.

The problem is that she recently went behind my back and told a breeder we were buying a dog. When I confronted her, she said she's going to get one anyway and that there's nothing I can do about it. She keeps bringing it up, and when I say no, it often turns into an argument, sometimes in front of our son.

Am I being unreasonable for refusing to get a dog under these circumstances, or am I justified in standing my ground because of the lease and the potential impact on our kids?
