Question about Job Offer Compensation

hi everyone! i just received a job offer for remote data entry with a small engineering firm. this is my first job since graduating college and my first remote job.

in my job offer under the compensation section, it states this: “…Compensation for the 3-hour, 7-day training period will be provided by check. This payment will include both your training wages and funds to purchase the required work tools. The check will be issued after you accept this offer and complete all onboarding documentation….”

i am unsure if this whole compensation via check thing is typical or common in remote jobs or if this is something i should be wary of. i have also received tax and direct deposit forms as well. please let me know if this is common! thank you all!
