Hey folks,

If you're currently navigating the nightmare that is Bangalore house hunting, especially around BTM Layout, please be extra careful. I almost got scammed this morning and wanted to share this so nobody else falls for it.

I was browsing NoBroker today and came across a listing for a 1 BHK in Ram Sridhar Apartments (Opp Udupi Garden, 16th Main Road). The photos looked incredible—fully furnished, super modern interiors, AC, great kitchen, the works.

But here’s the bait: The rent was listed at just ₹12,000/month with a ridiculously low deposit of ₹24,000.

Given the current Bangalore rental market, my FOMO kicked in hard. I was literally rushing to contact the owner before someone else snatched up this "steal of a deal."

Thankfully, logic kicked in before I made the call. How could anyone offer a fully furnished place with those kinds of amenities in a prime BTM spot for just 12k? It felt way too good to be true.

I decided to do a quick background check and looked up the Google reviews for Ram Sridhar Apartments. Boom. My suspicions were confirmed. Another user (Nikhin P) had posted about the exact same listing. Over 100 people had reacted to his review, showing just how many people are seeing this trap.

Here is how their scam works:

They post pictures of a luxury/highly-furnished flat at dirt-cheap prices.

They rely on your desperation and FOMO in this crazy rental market.

When you call, they tell you there is huge demand and ask you to pay a small "token advance" (usually ₹2,000) via UPI to "block" the flat on the app before you even visit.

Once you send the money, they ghost you.

Please stay alert, guys. No matter how good the photos look or how desperate you are to lock in a place, NEVER transfer a single rupee as a "token/blocking advance" before physically visiting the property, going inside, and verifying the owner.

Stay safe out there! Upvote for visibility so our fellow Bangaloreans don't lose their hard-earned money.
