DOS FR received, still waiting on USCIS approval

I received my DOS Favorable Recommendation in early May and got my USCIS receipt notice a few days later for my J-1 waiver physician case. A close friend in the exact same residency program applied for the exact same hospitalist waiver position, and our timelines were essentially identical.

The difference is that my friend's USCIS approval came about 2 weeks ago, while my case is still pending.
As far as I know, the only meaningful difference between our cases is nationality. My friend is not from one of the 39 countries affected by the recent travel restrictions, while I am.

My attorney remains optimistic, especially given the recent reports that physician cases from affected countries are being processed again ("doctor unpause"), but it's hard not to get concerned when someone with virtually the same timeline has already been approved.

Has anyone from one of the affected countries received a USCIS J-1 waiver approval recently? Are others seeing longer USCIS processing times despite having already received the DOS Favorable Recommendation?

Any recent experiences would be appreciated. TIA.
