Sore nipples!!

I’m a FTM to an 8.5 month old baby. I have had a great experience breastfeeding my baby up until recently. I used a shield to nurse until my baby was 7 months.

Once I stopped using the shield my nipples were sore for a few days, but nothing major. Now it’s a different kind of sore. Hard to explain but hence why I’m writing this post.

My baby has two bottom teeth now and I’m not sure if thats why, but my nipples hurt so so so bad! I’ve been using saline spray and nipple cream but that doesn’t always help.

It’s the initial latch that hurts and then it’s fine after she’s been nursing for a minute or so. Once she’s done the soreness lingers for a while.

Could her suction have changed and that’s what is causing this? I don’t believe it’s thrush as I’ve looked up the symptoms and neither I or my baby have any. I’m debating weaning her because I don’t know how I can keep ensuring this pain. Any advice or help is appreciated! Thank you!
