[NY] case against discrimination in the hiring process?
In November of 2023 I was in the process of getting hired for this job. It was practically mine, they loved me and offered it to me. They ran a background check and found I got arrested for possession of marijuana 4 years prior. Ended up ghosting me, I emailed them a few times and one of the managers told me I’m not getting the job because of the charge. It has recently come to my understanding that in NY (I’m in NYC) this is discrimination and illegal, esp if the job and crime have nothing to do with one another. I have emails that prove I was the #1 candidate and that the reason they width drew the offer was because of this. Can I realistically do anything? I was reading the statute of limitations is 3 years, which would be soon.
