2012 Equinox help

I've got a 2012 Chevy Equinox with about 100k miles on it. Everything has been normal. Past couple of days I've had an intermittent check engine light. Then this morning, after driving most of the way to work, I stopped at the gas station. When I got back in the car and started it up, the blower would not come on and is making a weird clicking sound. This continues for a minute after the car is turned off before it stops, and it makes whether I have the blower motor turned on or off. The only thing that seems to affect it is if I turn the temperature dial all the way to cold. Is this a bad blower motor, or would it be something else? Not sure if the check engine light would be related.
