Changing sprint?
The proposed solution is to remove several tasks from the current sprint after obtaining approval from the Product Owner. However, the question does not provide any information about the Sprint Goal or whether the tasks being removed are essential to achieving that goal.
In Scrum, reducing the Sprint Backlog may be reasonable if it helps preserve the Sprint Goal. However, if the absent team member is responsible for work that is critical to the Sprint Goal, simply removing other tasks would not solve the problem. In that case, the Sprint Goal itself could be at risk.
My concern is that the explanation assumes the team can safely remove some tasks while still meeting the Sprint Goal, but that assumption is not stated in the question.
I also find it difficult to dismiss option A entirely. If the team member announces the absence before leaving, knowledge transfer and collaboration could help reduce the impact on the sprint and improve the team's ability to continue the work.
Can someone explain why PMI considers C the best answer without first evaluating the impact on the Sprint Goal?
