Are recruiting platforms actually getting smarter?

Been thinking about how much recruiting software still feels like it was built around tracking records, not actually helping recruiters do better work.

Most teams already have a lot of useful candidate data sitting in their system: past conversations, interview notes, placement history, feedback, and pipeline activity. But when recruiters search, they often still have to rely on keywords and memory.

That feels like a big missed opportunity.

The better direction, in my opinion, is recruiting software that can actually use that history to help recruiters make better decisions. Not replacing recruiters, just helping them find the right people faster and spend less time digging through old records.

Curious how others feel about this. Do you think recruiting platforms are actually getting smarter, or are they mostly the same systems with AI added on top?
