Big changes coming to r/MusicIndia
This community has grown faster than any of us expected. That's on all of you — the posts, the conversations, the people who keep showing up. Thank you for that.
We've been thinking about what this place can become. Not just a subreddit, but the go-to music community in India — inclusive, high quality, and worth the time of everyone from a Carnatic purist to a bedroom pop obsessive. A place artists want to be part of, not just listeners.
Here's what's new.
The vision
We want r/MusicIndia to be the highest quality music community in India. Not the biggest — the best. A place where a Carnatic musician and a hyperpop obsessive can both find something worth their time.
Everything we're doing — the rules, the threads, the team — is in service of that.
What we're building
The best music communities aren't just places to share links. They're where real conversations happen, where listeners discover something new, and where artists feel at home too. That's the standard we're holding ourselves to.
We're here for all of Indian music — every genre, every format, every kind of fan.
New rules
Full list is in the sidebar. The short version of what's changed:
- Ticket reselling — we can't tell a genuine sale from scalping, so we don't allow either. Support the scene.
- Quality over quantity — a YouTube link with no context doesn't give anyone anything to talk about. Tell us why you're sharing it.
- AI content on Sundays — we heard you. A dedicated thread, every week. Keeps the feed cleaner for everyone.
- Gear and creator posts have their own threads — they get better traction there anyway.
- Images and GIFs in comments — go wild.
- Post auto-removed? Reach out via mod mail with your post link before reposting. We'll get to it within 24 hours.
New threads
Weekly and monthly threads to give focused conversations a proper home — gear talk, artist promotion, feedback, AI music, concert recaps, and more. Schedule is in the sidebar.
