These wireless systems will vary from location to location. In my use case, this system did not do any better than the older sync module.

I have one camera in my garage (condo). when i got the first version of this, i thought to try and see if it reached down there. Im above and about 200 feet laterally from where my vehicle is parked. I was impressed when I was able to get a signal. this was in the better of the two options (XR not XR+). All good. the signal from the camera to the sync module was in the yellow but was able to get 2 way comms and high quality video.

however, last month-ish the camera started getting flaky. i have the extension pack on the camera and use the energizers. nothing on my network changed, just the camera got spotty. so I gave up on it, but then I saw blink came out with this newer model and figured id give it a try.

the new module is much larger than the older one -- with antennas!! so figured this would really work much better.

sadly, it didn't. in fact, it is worse than the older version that has no antennas.

out of the box both the cam and module required software updates. that was flawless. the camera and sync module connected to each other quickly. i was up and running under 5 minutes.

took the cam down to the garage and the camera connected once but that was it. i was able to update the thumbnail, and change the options from XR to XR+ -- neither made any difference.

So my use case is niche and for those who have LOS to their camera(s) and sync module, you will probably be OK. but because the older version worked for months and months and this one cant even connect, the signal strength on this new module is not all that robust.

i also think its a waste to include a camera. id rather save a few bucks and just get the module, rather than forcing folks to get a camera. its just a conventional outdoor 4 camera.
