Why is it so difficult?
Moved into a senior public sector role and already feeling sidelined. My manager gives me little opportunity to take initiatives, rarely provides feedback and is often negative.. He yells and snaps at me in front of others and once told me to "stay in my lane" when I asked a genuine non-malicious question that indirectly challenged his incomplete information.
He regularly misses my emails and progress notes, then later asks where things are in an accusatory tone. I've documented my work and achievements, but I'm concerned this dynamic could affect my review.
More troubling than this is my colleagues becoming distant lately.. I enjoy solitude but not when I feel ignored to the point where they literally got up and left the lunch table we were sharing once. I have no clue what I did wrong. Can't tell if it's an adjustment issue, an insecure manager or a real toxic environment.. I'm tired playing the long corporate game but also struggling to keep work at work when the interactions we have could eventually result in interpersonal conflicts.
How do I manage this and stay sane? Not really able to move jobs for the next 6 months atleast as I only recently moved to this one.
