Data Breach
Good morning John. It is with great disappointment that I reach out to you today.
So myself and my husband received emails several days ago notifying us that our personal information has been compromised by Carnival’s data breach including (to quote the email) “full name, address, email address, phone number, and passport number were obtained.” The letter indicated that free credit monitoring would be offered to Carnival customers from the US only. I emailed them as a customer from outside the US to determine what was being done to support customers outside the US affected by this data breach. I received a reply indicating that nothing was being offered to help protect or monitor those customers outside the US. To quote the responding email “If you are outside the US, Carnival is not offering services.”
To say that I am angry at Carnival is an understatement. Not only did they allow my personal data to be accessed, they are not offering any support or credit monitoring to anyone outside the US. Nice to know where I stand with Carnival. If this is how little they value customers outside of the US, I will no longer be cruising with Carnival in the future. (Unfortunately I have a cruise booked and paid for with Carnival in Nov 2026)
There are many cruise lines to choose from and Carnival just lost a repeat cruiser. I hope many others who are affected by this data breach and resulting lack of support will follow my example and find somewhere else to spend their vacation dollars.
