Headlines about “autism grandparents”

grandparents who help out a lot with their autistic grandkids were recently celebrated as heroes in my local paper. the article suggested that this is very common.

my husband and I were surprised. my parents are in denial about their own autism and not always super helpful. they were not happy when we decided to pursue diagnosis either. anyone else relate?
