Spent 400+ Hours Developing a Core Bedrock Addon, Got 953 Downloads in May. CurseForge’s Payout? Exactly $0.05. This is Pure Exploitation.
Hello everyone,
I am the creator of the Bedrock Edition addon "Odyssey NPCs". I spent over 400 hours coding this project from scratch, sleepless night after sleepless night, trying to deliver a high-quality, stable NPC system that operates smoothly without relying on unstable Beta APIs.
Recently, MCPEDL forced creators to migrate and import their projects exclusively through the CurseForge ecosystem. They marketed this change under the guise of a "fair and rewarding program" for creators, encouraging us to ditch third-party ad links (like Linkvertise).
Today, the official statistics for May 2026 rolled in. My project gathered 953 organic downloads in its first month. Do you know what CurseForge deemed my 400 hours of labor and nearly 1,000 downloads worth?
Exactly 1 Reward Point. Equivalent to $0.05 USD. Five copper cents.
This is a complete joke and an absolute insult to independent developers. The CurseForge Reward Program is nothing but an untransparent "black box." They completely hide the math behind how points are distributed, while the algorithm heavily favors giant, multi-million-download Java modpacks, leaving independent Bedrock creators with literal breadcrumbs.
We were forced into this ecosystem, and now our labor is being systematically exploited. If we, the creators, stop providing quality content, this platform becomes a ghost town. It is time for CurseForge to provide absolute transparency on point multipliers and establish a fair minimum threshold for independent creators.
We deserve respect, transparency, and a fair share of the ad revenue we generate for them. This exploitation needs to stop.
