Do I give my doctor feedback?
I am a 31F and have had quite a bumpy past 6 months in which I had a stillbirth at 38 weeks. I’ve had the same doctor before my pregnancy, during, and after.
I recently went to see my doctor after walking up through the night with my heart pounding and overall just feeling really odd.
My doctor said that it is probably anxiety and when I pushed that something really didn’t feel right they put it down to postpartum. I did leave with a blood test I was instructed to take 3 weeks later and a referral for a heart monitor but I really didn’t feel like I was listened to.
I did the blood test early as I was feeling so off and the next morning first thing the doctors office called that I urgently needed to go for more bloods and a scan because my thyroid levels were through the roof. I’m so glad I did the bloods early. The doctor who called was quite panicked and said if I had any severe symptoms to call an ambulance (maybe a bit of overkill but just to explain how serious it was).
I went back to see my regular doctor and they prescribed me a medication. After going home and reading up on the medication I found that it is not advised to treat my condition so I called my doctor back to ask about it. The doctor didn’t listen to my reasoning at all and basically said if I didn’t take it, I would have a 10% chance of dying. She did refer me to a specialist.
The specialist called me 3 days later to go in for an urgent appointment as she wanted me to get off the medication straight away, confirming that it was not the right medication for me to be on.
After all this I was feeling quite a bit of distrust so I went to a skin specialist to get some moles checked out that my regular doctor had checked, and said were fine. The skin specialist was not happy with the look of one of the moles and has taken a biopsy.
Do I contact my doctor and provide them some feedback about how they have handled my care or do I just leave it and find a new doctor? I just don’t want anyone else to have to go through everything I did!
