Plugged PB SUB vs Sealed?
Hey guys,
I'm currently torn between getting a native sealed sub (like the SVS SB-1000/2000 Pro) or going with a ported one and running it with port plugs (like the PB-1000/2000 Pro in sealed mode). I've read a lot of conflicting opinions online about whether a plugged PB can actually match the tight transient response and speed of a true SB.
My room is quite small (about 20 m² / 215 sq ft) and I'm battling pretty harsh room modes with some nasty bass nulls in the middle of the room. Because of this, I'm heavily considering a dual subwoofer setup to even out the response.
As for my usage, I love watching movies for that deep low-end rumble, but I also listen to a lot of music and occasionally host techno parties here. For those nights, I absolutely need a fast, punchy, and dry kick-bass that doesn't sound boomy or muddy.
Would you guys recommend going with two smaller SBs to fight the room modes, one larger PB (and just plug it for music), or should I bite the bullet and save up for two PBs down the road?
Thanks for any advice!
