Schismtale lore:

After a neutral run, undyne became queen of the underground and put papyrus in charge of the royal guard. Papyrus, seeing frisk’s ability to show mercy, tries to convince the royal guard not to kill any humans who fell down. However after 2 humans fell down at the same time and undyne killed them in waterfall, papyrus found out and grew angry at undyne. Later when news from toriel arrived about another human falling down, papyrus without permission from undyne demanded that no royal guard attempt to capture the human. Eventually the human arrives at new home and is confronted by Undyne, ultimately being killed. However a schism began between undyne and papyrus after undyne found about papyrus’s demand to the royal guard. Meanwhile alphys resumed the determination experiments using the 2 souls collected and extracting determination from the amalgamates, she would revive the determination extractor and use it once again, this would have an unintended effect of allowing WD Gaster to interact with the world. After a 4th human fell and once again papyrus demanded the royal guard to not attack, a 2nd confrontation between papyrus and undyne would take place, where gaster took over papyrus’s body and killed undyne. When Papyrus regained control he saw a pile of dust along with a spear and undyne’s crown. He soon realized what had happened and in disbelief picked up the crown and proclaimed himself king papyrus along with taking the spear as a memory of undyne. Now Papyrus rules over an uneasy underground as he wrestles for control of his body with gaster, as the underground is nearing its breaking point with one incident might be all it takes for the underground to collapse into anarchy.

phases lore:

phase 1: after the 5th human fell down and committed genocide, papyrus was the only one left. as such he decided to save what was left of his kingdom and fought the human. his attacks are similar to disbelief's but he also uses spears and the green soul mode.

phase 2: after using his bone to block numerous attacks it starts to crack as a final hit splits it in half, with one half falling to the ground, the human takes advantage and strikes papyrus, hitting him. papyrus picks up the remaining half of the bone as his other eye starts glowing green. this phase's attacks are a mix of last breath's and disbelief's phase 2s along with spears and the green soul.

phase 3: at the end of phase 2 the spear papyrus was holding was destroyed, as he picked up the other half of his bone he got hit again. this lead to papyrus temporarily losing control allowing gaster to take over as papyrus's face is cracked apart. this phase's attacks is a mix of phases 1 and 2 but harder and with wingdings and glitches because of gaster.
