Feeling socially drained after work
Current RMO just feeling socially exhausted and drained from work. I am naturally an introvert but enjoy some socialisation, but I feel like I am always putting on a facade at work trying to be nice and appease everyone, which is quite draining at the end of the day. I am a little bit on the spectrum as well, so I have to be really vigilant picking up on social cues a lot of time.
It’s also really exhausting having to know so many different faces, patients, families etc.
Has anyone else experienced this?
In addition, I feel like I get along decently well with other doctors, but I’ve realised there are so many other integral allied health staff, nurses I have simply have not gotten to know/ build an interpersonal relationship with, mainly because it is too busy and I cannot be bothered. I get that hospitals aren’t a popularity contest but I feel quite guilty about this.
