Baptism

I don’t even know how to write this because it’s more so a topic I see comforted with men. But I’ve been abstinent for 7 years and as of Summer 2025 I strengthened my walk with Christ and did my first fast as if something was prompting me to do so with urgency, I think I was under spiritual warfare because I even had dreams of people trying to feed me in my sleep. I even spent periods of time and I mean months not listening to music etc. I stopped self pleasure as well. All of this transformation approaching 11 months.

Today, I just felt far from God. And just a rush of disappointment and sadness with the pace of my life, waiting for the spouse God showed me in my dreams with his face covered, and my new life to “start”, and overall acceptance of my health condition,( not the trajectory because great things are coming and I have faith). I’m a patient person but I lack divine patience which I believe is another level I have mastered. I mean there are people in the Bible that 7 years to them is like 30 seconds. Anyway, I closed my eyes and asked the Holy Spirit to guide me with urgency (I’ve had prophetic dreams since a child and has amplified since my walk). Keep in mind I’m new to reading the Bible consistently and still use the table of contents. I closed my eyes and say John 3:7 appear on a piece of notebook paper. I read it and I almost burst into tears. Because that message couldn’t be clearer, and God wasn’t far from me at all. It was a stern message, and a loving warning. I am so thankful for God‘s love and grace.

I say all this to say, I think it’s time. I was raised Catholic and was baptized as a baby. I’m scared but I know it’s time I was planning on getting baptized August of this year because August of last year is when I stopped being a lukewarm Christian and actually took my faith seriously. I’m scared because I only experienced it as a baby and I don’t know what’s to come but I’m hopeful. Spiritually I have outgrown my home church so I’m currently without a home church to get baptized, I think the Holy Spirit will point me into the right direction. I trust that, he’s been a strong presence and has never failed.

Any of your recently baptized in the past year, can you tell me about your experience during baptism leading up to it and after what was your journey like?
