Hello. I made a moc recreating the 1992 set Black Knight's Castle from my childhood. I originally posted two teaser images on the Lego Castles subreddit and was planning on submitting this to Lego Ideas. I received a lot of unsolicited criticisms of how everyone else would have built this set. A lot of "advice" I received during the 6 months it took to design and build this were contradictory, would make it ineligible for Lego Ideas, or had some reason for not working out. So please, in the comments I don't want to see what you would have done had you been the builder-go actually try making a moc yourself instead of commenting. Since the bad reaction with that community turned me off on the idea of doing anything else with this-I will just be enjoying my moc, which is perfect for me and pairs well when displayed with both castles together. To the people that just want to view cool images of an old castle reimagined with new Lego elements-then here you go.

**Details**

Upgraded from a 32x32 stud raised baseplate to a 48x48 stud baseplate with the rest brick-built.

Maintains the black/grey theme from the original but with less random parts off-colored (which was done in 1992 because of part/color availability). Added in more grey in the walls to look like pieces of the wall missing from past combat.

Contains the four original knights with plumes-white, yellow, red, and blue. The increased size of the courtyard allows for all four and their horses to have a space in the courtyard/on the walls. Plastic capes were used when available. They will be upgraded with the new shields soon hopefully, there is a Sea Serpent GWP coming this year that could have them remade.

3 caves and one snake hole. There is a spider cave, treasure/scorpion cave, and a cave where a Wolfpack member is digging his friend out of the pit dungeon (light brick for campfire). There is also the dungeon in the middle that was a key figure in the original set.

The dungeon was extended to cover the whole area and the well was moved off to the side instead of on top. Even as a kid I thought it was weird to have a well over a dungeon...where's the water?

There is walkable access to every point except for the two tall towers.

Working catapult on top of the main gate.

The drawbridge is smaller, but this is good. The original's drawbridge was way too big. This smaller one helps with lifting it up and fits perfectly when in the upright position, to where it lightly rests on the corner of the shields to black you from overtightening it.

Portcullis replaced with gates due to new part availability and original plan to put on Lego Ideas meant I needed current parts. The gates are locked with a chain.

Scenes in every room of the side towers. Artillery ammo room w/ cats, armory, food storage, and haunted room. The top of the back tower has a funny scene where you have an extra soldier up there sitting down and there are wine bottles all over the place-having some fun on guard duty.

The tudor-style cottage had a table on the bottom floor and a treasure chest on the top floor in the 1992 version. In my version, you can easily take the roof off and see two treasure chests in the attic. Remove the attic, just like with modulars, and you can see a whole dining room display. I changed it from yellow with black wood beams and a red roof to sand yellow, dark brown, and the roof is dark red. This makes it look more realistic than the original.
