Springfield XD, good or nah?

Morning folks. I'm looking for a modern striker fired pistol and the XD caught my eye. I'm a 1911 purist, so the grip safety on the XD is really attractive but how's the rest of the pistol, especially compared to other Springfields? I've shot and love the Echelon, infact its my front runner, but how does the XD compare to it?
