How can I improve my application as a non-trad with no clinical experience?
Hello! I’m a non-trad applicant hoping to apply next year but I’m unsure if I should postpone it for the following year instead as I don’t have any clinical experience.
Here are my stats:
- BS in Chemistry, 3.9-ish (I graduated from a Filipino university so this is an estimate, my actual GPA was 1.081)
- MSc in Chemistry, 5.0/5.0
- I also finished two years of coursework for my PhD program and maintained a 4.0 from a T30 US university
- Worked as a synthetic chemist for a pharmaceutical firm for two years
- 15,000+ research hours
- 4 publications
- Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, and Physical Chemistry
- MCAT: TBD, hoping to take it this January
I have no clinical experience but I’m currently studying to become an EMT. My program ends next month so barring any mishaps, I should be able to obtain some clinical hours by next cycle. Do you guys think that’s enough or should I postpone my application for another year to gain more clinical hours?
Thank you and I would really appreciate any feedback!
