Advice needed on A-level math/FM, y11 here :(

🙏 I WANT HELP

Hello everyone, I hope your A-levels are going well and you achieve the grades you are working towards :> I don't know if I can ask for advice on this forum but I didn't really know where else to ask so here goes.

For a little context, I'm doing my GCSEs currently and really wanted to study a level maths and further maths next year which is related to the degree I want to pursue. About 8 months ago, a close family member passed away, and this severely affected my grades and wellbeing after that to now. I went from being a grade 8 student to barely scraping low 7s or even 6s in past papers, and I feel like I did even worse in the paper 1 and 2 (which I just finished today) despite trying my best to revise every day.

I've been extremely paranoid that on results day I'll open my results to a worse than mediocre set of grades, and that I'll never be able to study the A levels I wanted to do, which worries me because I'm also aiming to study a degree at an Oxbridge/Russel group university. My other option, assuming that I'll have a slim chance of studying A-level maths, is self studying FM-- but I'm not sure if it would be encouraged at sixth forms or that it seems too ambitious for someone like me.

I apologise if this sounds too vent-y, but I guess I'm just looking if there's anyone else who was in a similar situation as me during your year 11 times, and whether it's advisable for me to still work towards the goal of studying these subjects. I just want to make myself and my family proud and study what I actually enjoy doing in life.
