My mom proposed a new plan for my nans house and I'm not sure if its for me and now I don't know what to do.
My grandmother died recently and after a long process we finally reached the point where we need to sell my nans house, at least that's what the plan was.
Because it was planned as definite I made plans to use my money for my future. I'm starting my second year of my policing degree and at the end of the second year I get to apply to a police force with the help of the lecturers, but my issue is I don't know where I want to work. I known for certain that I don't want to stay in my current city, its full of bad memories and people Id rather forget, no one knows that's my reason for leaving but it is at its heart. So my share of the house sale would be vital to my future. I don't even know if I will want to be a police officer in 2 years, a lot can change.
My moms new plan puts mine on hold for a while. She wants to keep the house and rent it to a tenant so she can make it an investment for her retirement as she has no pension fund. She wants to loan out the money to buy out the other beneficiaries of the will, she then plans to use the tenants rent to help pay that loan off. My issues come from the fact she said we'd need to agree to keep the house for the three years however I worked out the loan will take around 5 years minimum to pay off. when I brought up the issues that I don't know if I can wait 3 years, what if things changed and i needed it early, it would screw everything up. She guarantees if that's the case she would have the rent money saved for whatever I may need it for, I take issue with that because that money needs to be used on paying the loan and potential issues with the house that they would need to pay for, meaning that I cant use any of the money realistically and If I wanted/needed the entire share, she said wed sell the house but its not that simple, houses take a while to sell.
instead of hearing my concerns she thinks I'm over thinking to many if, buts and maybes but I think they need to considered but she needs fixed that her, me, my dad and sister will all make more money over time, which is true but from what Ive looked at the house needs to be kept for around 5 years minimum and I don't know if I should stay in this deal or if id be making a mistake by being asked to be brought out, but If i am her loan would be considerably higher and I would lose out on a big amount of money.
