I miss the reasons why I played Helldivers in the first place.

(This is a copy of a post I've made on the main sub before discovering this one, and I just want to say right away that I'm grateful I found it. This place represents everything that made Helldivers and the community so special to me, and I'm glad it exist in this exact moment where everything seems so grim and beyond saving. I just want to say thank you all for creating this place. I hope it will keep staying wholesome for years to come.)

Recently I've started to have a very hard time having fun in the game. There are a lot of reasons but mainly because of how hard it has become to play and engage with the community lately, with all the negativity and misery that has been generating so far.

I don't want to sound like I'm crying over people criticizing the game. Honestly, it's probably what it really needs at the moment with all the crap that has been happening. What I'm really upset about is how this attitude has changed the community for the worse imo, no longer being the wholesome community who's just played around with the humor of the game. Now with questioning issues from the devs are impacting the game more and more, so the community too. For me, the community was one of the selling points of why I wanted to play Helldivers so much. It felt special. It felt exiting and something I haven't ever seen or felt before in a gaming space. People roleplaying, talking about SE like it's real and all the content generating which literally asked community interaction, and it was soooo good. It truly made me feel you were part of something bigger with other people, working together to active something, even in a universe whose satire about authoritarianism and yaddayadda “we're the baddies" yaddayadda. I really wanted to participate into this, and I'm glad I've had the chance to do so.

But now everything as gone downhill. There is little to no more roleplay, no more funny shit and jokes, only low quality memes that are just depressing, and all the good vibes are just gone. It has just become like any other gaming community, and with all its worse trades. So much division that does not make it worth engaging with, and for a game which is heavily community based, is just the death of it. If the community is no more enjoyable, nor is the game for me. I get it why all this happened. People's reactions usually reflects the state of the game, but I just can't do anything but murmuring a community that I used to love.

I might be nostalgia blind, I dunno. Maybe things weren't better before. But from how I experienced the game at it's first stages before, it hurts seeing how everything changed. I miss just interacting with people who enjoyed and exploring not for the game itself, but for its uniqueness that brought people together to have fun. Making funny and silly war stories. Creating content around it. I miss when the only 'attack' gave to people who disagreed on something was by posting a GIF of [X] faction typing on a keyboard. It's all that mattered to me and what made me keep playing the game despite everything. And now it seems to be all gone. And it makes me miserable. I don't think there's any game that will ever give me the same feeling as Helldivers did. Neither DRG gave me that feeling of brotherhood and humor. Only Helldivers. I'm just missing that time when people were having fun not only with the game but also with each other.

I miss these days and I really want them back.
