How many gifts is "too much"?
Hello! I'm facing a bit of a dilemma of some sorts.
Basically, in a few months I'll be meeting up with a friend of mine that I met around 2y ago on a school trip. We're both the same age, we clicked and then just kept touch online. The plan is that I'll be staying with her and her family for 3 days and we'll just hang out and stuff.
We planned the trip over half a year ago, and during that time I've been slowly accumulating gifts for her. Nothing big, for example I could be walking through the mall or scrolling through some online shops from boredom, see something that catches my eye and think "Oh, she'd like that" and buy it.
It's never anything expensive, I'm not rich unfortunately, but I always try to make sure it's something that she mentioned to me at least once. Sometimes when I'm not sure, I even outright text her if she'd like this specific thing, just to make sure.
I mentioned this to one of my friends, so she got curious and asked me what did I get her so far? So I listed off what I could remember, and according to my friend I'm "going to far".
Now just to make sure, I'm not expecting anything in return. I always buy/make handmade gifts for people that I love, whether it's a special occasion or not. I suppose gift giving would be sort of my love language?
So I just wanna know, should I like, spread the gifts and not give my friend everything all at once? Although to be fair, her birthday is gonna be a month after my visit, so I also have stuff prepared for then, if that makes sense.
I can add the gift list in the comments if that'd help anyone
