Armoury points question

So do you have to queue up a specific thing to unlock in the armoury in order for the points to work or does it automatically go to the next unlock? Like if I complete two daily challenges but only one challenge was needed for the unlock I had activated, will the second one go towards something else or is it basically wasted??
