Hip-Hop is Dead conversation (my point of view)

Just wanted to add my opinion to this conversation. aside feeling like most Hip-Hop fans and consumers don’t support and share upcoming underground talented artist unless they have a serious movement already(when it’s slightly popular). Another major factor that’s contributing to the downfall of Hip-Hop is there’s a serious gate keeping problem.

as an underground artist such as myself. I’ve had a many industry & mainstream rappers (some who are even considered Legends) DM me or follow me on social media. Telling me in private “you’re very talented” but never shared my music(which is understandable I guess because rap is competitive) and I’ve had a few label executives & A&Rs (Major & Independent) who claimed they enjoy my music TDE included but was too focused on my music not having more than 20K views(my views usually range between 5k-1K views. so from my experience I’ll say gatekeeping & focusing too much on numbers/views or not being a “viral artist” & not developing artist anymore is hurting the Hip-Hop culture. Talent is no longer valued how it was 10-20 years ago and polishing Artist who have great potential
