Chasing AC Pipework into masonry internal wall
I recently bought a unit in a two storey 70’s block of flats. I have a ground floor unit with brick walls and want to replace the existing AC in the living room as it has exposed capping internally and doesn’t look great. I plan to move it closer to the external wall and chase the AC pipework and cables.
The internal walls are are 110mm thk single brick with approx. 15mm hard plaster either side, 140 thk overall. I’ve been told I need to chase at least 50mm deep into the wall for a length of 700mm. The ceiling is concrete slab so no option to go up.
While I’m keen to go ahead with chasing the walls I am worried about the structural impact of cutting into the wall. The render is really thick so think the brick would be cut into about 35mm deep x 70mm high. This would then get plastered over once AC pipework is installed.
I think this is risky but really want to get a nicer outcome than exposed capping. Have any others had success or failures with trying to do this?
