Just upgraded from 15 Pro to 17 Pro and can no longer get siri to play apple music w/o first having me unlock the phone

I walk my dogs miles 3x/day for the past couple of years w/ my iphone 15 pro and have never been prompted to unlock my phone for siri to "Hey siri, play my music on random" execute this request.

Set-up my iPhone 17 Pro today, took the dogs out for a stroll and boom, "You need to unlock your iPhone first".

So I head to the trusty google machine and ask it how to solve this + Reddit...read all the relevant threads to no avail.

Has anyone else solved this? Was it just a native function on the 15 and locked down on the 17?
