These are the steps I took after being banned from Hinge, and I’m trying to understand what may have gone wrong.

On Monday, I purchased a brand-new iPhone and went to a local library to create a completely new Apple ID using information that had never been associated with any previous Hinge account. I used a new email address, new name, new phone number, new device, and brand-new photos that I had never used before.

When creating my Hinge account, I filled out all the required profile information. At the final step, Hinge required me to complete a face verification scan. I was hesitant because I knew that in my previous attempts, face verification seemed to be the point where things went wrong, but it was required in order to continue using the app.

In past attempts, I would usually be allowed onto the app briefly, but within minutes or a few hours after completing face verification, I would receive a notification that my account had been banned. This time was different. After completing the face verification, Hinge confirmed that I was verified, and I was able to access the app normally. I could view profiles and send likes, which made me think the account had successfully passed whatever checks Hinge performs.

Based on previous experiences, I often knew an account was about to be restricted when my likes would stop working inconsistently or the app would behave strangely. This time, however, I was given a normal daily like limit and had to wait until the next cycle before sending more likes, which seemed like standard behavior.

The following day, I purchased Hinge Premium to see if that would help with visibility or account performance. As of today, I still have not received any matches or likes. I don’t believe my profile is the issue, and I’m confused because I took every precaution I could think of: new device, new Apple ID, new email, new phone number, new photos, and completely new account information.

For a moment, I thought everything had worked because I was successfully verified and had full access to the app. Now I’m wondering whether the face verification process may have connected me to my previously banned account, even though everything else was brand new.

At this point, I’m not sure what to do next. Has anyone experienced something similar, or does anyone have recommendations on what might be happening?
