What are my chances of getting off the waitlist for my DES classes?

I had to go on the waitlist to a couple of my upper division design courses because I had a medical emergency and therefore had to register late. I'm worried I won't have enough hours this semester to be full time because all my required courses were waitlisted. I've gotten off the waitlist before for non-design classes but I'm wondering if it's different for design since the major and class size is a lot smaller.
