Foxhole VR

I don't have a VR headet.. Yet..

Does it still work?
Can I use mouse and keyboard?
Do I actually have to look into the headset to see the game? Am I able to look at it on my screen like a recording on youtube shows perfectly?
What would be the cheapest/best headset to go with this? I keep hearing Meta Quest only
